Near Wunder Beach B Battery 5/4 Artillery sets up camp. Cannot dig in very well so berms are constructed with 55 gal drums and sand bags. The position was named LZ Sandy by Humberto Garcia in honor of his wife named Sandy. The brass accepted the name because, guess what, the place was "sandy". It was from here that B Battery fired the first "hot" fire mission of the 5/4 Artillery in Vietnam.
