I then served in "A" 2/506 Infantry (Airmobile), 101st Airborne Division out of Camp Evans until December 1971. I want to thank you for your personal help on several things I've been researching through the years. I have spent a lot of time on your site and I owe you big time. Thanks!

Comments about the web site:Thanks for the memories....I've checked on other sites to see if I can locate faces and at times I see familiarity. Still, I remember the times with our fellow infantry, while serving as a crew member on a M48A3, with A co. 1/77 Armor. Proudly, while, I don't remember the individuals, I do remember the group and can only say, "Proud to have served with you all".

Comments about the web site: I was in HHC 1/61 from Feb 71 until stand down. I spent my entire time at Charlie 2. Today, May 21, is 30 years after the club rocket incident. At least when I was there, they had a superstition about eating apricots. On the evening of May 21, the mess hall had a big bowl of apricots set out and the Sgt Major was standing there laughing about how silly it was, ( the apricot superstition). And 5 minutes later he and many others were dead and wounded. To this day I have not eaten a single apricot, or apricot items, not in superstition, but in remembrance of those who died on that date. This site has meant a lot to me today. Keep it going. Thanks

Comments about the web site: Great site, lots of history. I was part of D Co 1/61st (5/6th) from '86-'89. Deployed to Panamá. Had a great time in Panamá since I speak Spanish fluently. The girls were really friendly if you know what I mean. A few friends and I went to the PX and bought some civies to wear, and we would sneak into the closest town to drink it up. We would stay at Arbrook Air Base and the Bubbles. Capt. Orlov was our CO (short man's complex).

Comments about the web site: Thanks to your Guest Log Locator and Lt John Kiefer, I was able to locate my best friend, Craig Brooks, from Idaho. I have been to your site many times and read some of the e-mails, always hoping to find someone I knew. When I found the locator page, I noticed Craig's name. His sister had sent an E-mail in Nov of 1999, looking for someone who served with him. Needless to say she was suprised to not only get an answer but an answer from his best friend. Craig and I talked on the phone for 2 hours. Lots of memories came back. A big thanks to Craig's sister Lisa, for getting us together.

ANYWAY, I WAS IN CSC 1/61 AT FT POLK FROM 8-8-75 UNTIL 7-19-76, WHEN I TRANSFERED TO 3-10 ON NORTH FORT. FT POLK WAS SO MUCH LIKE THE NAM IN SO MANY WAYS, OTHER THAN NOT BEING SHOT AT.

I took five of them named: "Patrol," "New Tanks," "NDP," "Mines," and "NVA Weapons." I have no idea how you got them but you are welcome to them in addition to the 200 others I took while in VN. In answer to the question, I can't recall the names of the fellows with the NVA weapons, but it was taken at LZ Saigon after two nights of intense NVA assualts. Interestingly enough, the wounded tank in "Mines" was repaired within 48 hours and drove off Lang Vei SFC under it's own power. Great support from the rear and B Co. mechanics.

Comments about the web site: I was in Vietnam in 70 and 71, with 1/61 at C2 & A4. We are searching for the company I served with, I was the mechanic that operated the MTVR gun, Mobile Tactical Light Recovery Vehicle.(editor's note: MVTR was special purpose M113, never classified as "Standard" by US Army) I was the only mechanic that had to go out into the bush. We did a lot of recon missions out west and northwest of the A4. Is there anyone out there that can remember for me the company I served with? I recently have had a stroke and can't remember lots of things that have happened in the past 30 years. We are doing all this research for Veterans, so we can file a claim for disablity. Please email me. This is the best site I have found yet. Thanks for bringing me home.

Comments about the web site: I was just cruising through the i-net looking for info on Ft. Jackson, where I'll be attending Basic and AIT, and happened upon this page. Reading through the memorials, I am made even more proud to serve in this Army, 1/161st. Thanks. Pvt Drowatzky

Comments about the web site: This site has brought back many memories. I served at Quang Tri with the 321st Aviation Detachment to the 1/5, Dec 69 - Sept 70. We ran the Airfield at Quang Tri. I am most interested for more information of this Unit and its personnel. The airfield had Marines for Security, Army for Tower & Fuel, Air Force for Weather and a Navy Crash Crew for the aircraft. I am trying to get a claim for PTSD and need much information.

Comments about the web site: My sincerest thanks to all who served. I discovered this site trying to find the main Ft. Jackson site to determine graduation dates for a young friend who is entering basic training. My daughter is taking a history (!!) course in high school, Lessons of Viet Nam. Special thanks to those who served in Nam in units that still do not officially exist. I have a friend of decades who only now has told me he was in such a unit. Y'all have my deepest respect.
